My work in Outside of Outside curated by artist Clair Joy alongside Giorgio Sadotti and Elizabeth Wright, was entitled Everything and the Kitchen Sink No. 7, 2013 and was one of a series made using actual kitchen sinks cut in half making a lengthways cross section with side and top view. These works were free standing light box sculptures with plants, engine grease and paint trapped and illuminated in the surface. The series considered our negative treatment of Nature- we pour things down the sink drain without really considering how this affects Nature- “out of sight out of mind”. 

Exhibiting in Outside of Outside gave me a wonderful opportunity to directly connect the kitchen sink directly with Nature and I also wanted to imply that I had brought the inside [of a home] into the outside world. I strapped the work to a large Plane Tree- it included a bed mattress, dissected kitchen sink set in a box cupboard decorated with a minimalist painting with early textures and colours, together with a mixer tap and protruding drain pipes. I also threw lumps of clay at the work which stuck on the box surface alongside and a Tarmac ‘fungus’ to further mix Nature and the man-made.
